The Day We Realised Something Had to Change
"I'm Mrs. Eileen Toh, mother of four boys and former school teacher. A few years ago, I sat in a parent-teacher conference hearing words no parent wants to hear: 'Your son is falling significantly behind in Chinese.' Here I was - an educator myself - and my own child was struggling."

That's when it hit me: This is what I want to be for other children's math journey.
I started this center as a one-woman operation - just me teaching all the classes, handling everything myself. Mr. JY Wong, who was running his own education center, saw what we were building and shared the same vision. He joined me because he believed in putting students first, just like I did.
Together, we decided to keep classes small. Just six students per class. Friends called us crazy - why put in so much effort for so few children? My answer was simple: I hoped someone would do the same for my boys.

Mrs Eileen Toh is a dedicated educator and proud mother of four, known for her warm and structured approach to teaching. With a Master's in Education from NIE and years of experience as a former school teacher, she specialises in building strong foundations and nurturing confidence in young learners.

Mr JY Wong
Co-founder & Math Tutor
Mr JY Wong brings a rare combination of academic excellence and real-world teaching experience to the classroom. A top scorer in both PSLE (271 aggregate) and O-Levels (7 A's), and a Gold & Silver Medalist in the Singapore Math Olympiad, he knows what it takes to help students succeed.
As a former school teacher and NIE-trained educator, Mr Wong is known for making Math relatable, logical, and even enjoyable — especially for students who may have struggled with the subject previously.
His experience as an international debater gives him a unique teaching style that blends clarity, logic, and the ability to break down even the toughest problems into easy-to-understand steps.
It's Not About the Grades. It's About the Upward Spiral.
After years in classrooms with 30+ students, and now raising four children, here's what we've learned:
Children don't fail because they're not smart enough.
They struggle because they're not taught in a way that makes sense to them.
Most places focus on chasing marks without consideration for well-being and development. More worksheets, more drilling, more content coverage. But I've watched too many bright children shut down because no one took the time to understand how they think.
What actually works is creating what we call the upward spiral:
Child feels capable
Child becomes curious
Child experiences achievement
Child feels capable

Sustainable long-term growth
When a child feels safe to ask questions, when they're not just one face in a crowd, when someone notices their small victories - that's when this spiral begins. It's not about the grades (though those do improve). It's about watching a child's face light up when they finally "get it." When they choose to do extra practice because they want to, not because they have to.
Why this matters: When children experience this upward spiral, they don't just improve in Math. They develop resilience, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset that serves them for life.
Why We Keep Classes at Just 6 Students
I could fit twenty-four children in our classroom. The business would grow faster, the rent would be covered quicker. But I remember what it felt like in my own school classes. There were always a few who slipped through the cracks, who needed just a little more time or a different explanation.
With six children, I can:
- Catch the confused look before it becomes frustration
- Adjust my explanation mid-lesson when I see faces that need a different approach
- Celebrate the quiet child who finally volunteers an answer
- Actually know each child's learning style and adapt accordingly
This isn't a marketing strategy. It's how I would want my own children to be taught.
What Actually Happens in Our Classes
We don't have flashy gimmicks or "revolutionary methods." What we have is time - time to really know each child, time to understand where they're stuck, time to build their confidence step by step.
Our Approach:
- Every term, your child gets a new textbook that our team has written in-house.
- When a child struggles with a topic, we have extra worksheets ready - not more of the same, but carefully designed questions that scaffold them back to understanding.
- When they're ready for more challenge, we have harder problems that stretch their thinking.
Parent Communication:
- You'll get a WhatsApp group with your child's tutor. Not for marketing messages, but for real updates.

What We Can't Promise You (The Honest Truth)
- I won't tell you your child will jump from failing to AL1 in three months. Real learning doesn't work that way.
- I can't guarantee they'll love every single lesson. Math can be challenging, and some days are harder than others.
- I won't claim we're the only good tuition center in Singapore. There are dedicated teachers everywhere.
What I can promise:
We will see your child as an individual.
We will care about their progress as much as you do.
We will work with you, not around you, to help them grow.
The Materials We've Created (Because We Care About the Details)
Over the past seven years, we've written more than 80 textbooks and workbooks. Not because we had to, but because we wanted every explanation to be exactly right.
When I started with just six students per level, everyone asked if it made sense to put so much effort into creating comprehensive materials for so few children. My answer was yes. Because I would want someone to do that for my children.
What makes our books different:
- Written by teachers who actually use them in class
- Constantly refined based on how students respond
- Designed to build understanding, not just memorization
- Clear progression from simple concepts to complex problem-solving
We're now working with a major publisher to make these available internationally - not because we're trying to expand, but because other educators have seen the difference thoughtful materials can make.
Why Spaces Are Naturally Limited
Many of our students stay with us for years - from Primary 1 right through to PSLE. When families find something that works, they tend to stay.
We cap each tutor at 60 students maximum (most centers: 200+). Both JY and I still teach classes ourselves - we're not just figureheads who show up for photos.
Why we don't just "add more classes":
Every new tutor requires months of training. We won't compromise on quality for growth. This isn't a business strategy - it's a teaching philosophy.
